About 400 riders of heavy-duty motorcycles yesterday gathered in front of the Legislative Yuan to simultaneously honk their horns for 30 seconds in protest at the government’s exorbitant tax and the denial to their rights to the road.Organizers of the event said that owners of heavy-duty bikes of 600cc now have to pay a license tax of NT$23,040 per year, five times the NT$4,320 tax for motorists with vehicles having the same exhaust emission.
