Simon Milward 是 FEMA(Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations)的前秘書長。十四天前在為期五年的世界摩托車旅途中，不幸在非洲的馬利共和國發生意外，享年40歲。當時 Simon 正在趕往和當地 Médecins Sans Frontières(無疆界醫師組織) 聯絡的途中。在五年當中，Simon 嘗試和各種 NGO 組織合作，提供偏遠村莊運輸問題的解套。
Simon 所任職的FEMA，目前是全歐洲最大的摩托車權益促進團體，前身為 FEM(Federation of European Motorcyclists) 和 EMA(European Motorcyclists Association) 兩個團體於1998年所合併。
我還記得1998年正要去當兵的前夕，在 MAG 上看到合併訊息時，我坐在電腦前握拳發願的情景。在歐盟各單位間遊說，Simon 是少數能談笑於官樣場合間仍能保有曠野流本質的角色。Richard Stallman 各位可能比較熟悉些，但不蠻你說，看到大鬍子我第一個會想起的，總是 Simon Milward。
2000年01月01日，他從倫敦出發，開始著名的千禧之旅。這趟未竟之旅在熱愛環球摩托旅遊騎士的口傳間相當有名。那時我待在海軍艦艇的甲板上，撐著柺杖，痛苦地望著遠方的地平線。
在我努力理解 NMCA 日本二輪車協会推動法案的脈絡之際，Simon 卻突然走了。

Invite you to a celebration of the life of Simon Charles Milward (28th January 1963 – 4th March 2005).
To be held on. Saturday 7th May 2005 at the Riverside Leisure Centre, Cowick Street, Exeter EX4 JAF.
From 10.30 am to 12.30pm and afterwards at The Double Locks, Canal Banks, Exeter EX2 6LT.
