The most successful Winter Olympian of all time is Norwegian Cross Country skier Bjørn Dæhlie, who collected eight gold medals and four silvers from 1992 to 1998. His legacy will last beyond Turin if countryman and biathlete Ole Einar Bjørndalen does not repeat his Salt Lake City goldrush.
