剛才某位網友利用 shoutcast.com 做了 live 的廣播。有趣的聆聽經驗，但是我擔心的是法律上的問題。Shoutcast 的母公司是 AOL，而 AOL 應該會 teaming up with RIAA 等組織。不知道這整個背後，又是什麼樣的企圖。

另外，hcchien 講到的新提案中，可以試著加入 shoutcast？Sony Ericsson 的 P800 應該可以藉由 GPRS 連線聽 shoutcast 廣播？在教育上，英國的 Littleheath School in Redbridge, Essex 曾經在英國衛報(September 17, 2002) 的 Special Supplement, Pg. 12 上介紹到使用 shoutcast 來作為校園廣播和教學的例子。

So how would this technology has to say onto dialogues of social software? And how would it coexist with blogging?

    I am from singapore, and I am planning to open an internet online radio station over here with my peers. Both chinese and english station. =)

    From I know, UK and England has all these internet online radio station and they are earning money from it and being sponsor. I guess its just the time and money issues over here to get the license and so on.

  3. 目前商業的電台看起來還是偏好微軟和RealNetworks的產品, 畢竟他們的產品和shoutcast比起來要成熟多了.
    不過我也有看過一個小公司, 自己架icecast server放廣播, 當作是產品試聽, 同時也把stream relay到peercast來降低頻寬用量.

    RealNetworks才剛開始提供mobile device的player, 目前可使用的mobile phone只有Nokia的3650…

    其實如果是想一般網路廣播可以在mobile phone上面聽, 大概就缺兩件事:
    1. 在手機上可接收streaming media的player(算是機體功能問題)
    2. 錢(radio的封包不少, 目前大量使用的收費還是有點貴…)
    我也很希望手機可以聽net radio, 一般的廣播選擇太少了:P

  4. rydeen，所以或許可以 shoutcast 走公眾和商業，而 peercast 往小眾？我總覺得，如果這些個東西上了 mobile phone 平台，又不知會是什麼光景？搞不好是 killer app？

    在台灣, 現在應該不少學校的BBS上, 都有一個板有專屬的shoutcast server. 在日本的2ch Web BBS上面有一些thread在討論peercast, 有人開台就會在上面公告. 節目類型其實都差不多, 除了單純放音樂, 也有Peer DJ Night這類聊天節目, 當然內容就依各處的社群而有所不同.

    雖然peercast比較不怕被關閉, 但是因為目前台灣主流的ADSL網路上傳頻寬過小(64kbps), 一個人可能relay一個stream都會有點困難, 所以broadcaster可能還是需要一個頻寬較大的線路.
