索羅斯和Open Society Institute

2002年初在準備淡江未來所課程簡報時，看到了George Soros和他的Open Society Intsitute。今天在ICOS 2004會後，則是有機會進一步了解他所sponsor(或是給予funding)的作法。以下是一些幫助自己記憶的筆記…

1. Allen Gunn和他的Aspiration Tech。Aspiration Tech的目標是：

Aspiration identifies what is available and what is missing in the nonprofit and NGO software arena. We foster relationships, delivery systems, and sustainability strategies between NGOs and their tech support organizations around the world.

有趣，跟索羅斯(George Soros)一堆initiative都是從第三世界國家「下手」，有異曲同工。

3. Tactical Technology Collective

Jan 28-Feb 04, 2005在印度孟買，為期一週的聚會：

Asia Source hopes to bring together over 100 people from 20 countries to increase the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) amongst the voluntary sector in South and South East Asia.

4. 贊助Asia Source的團體是：OSI(Open Society Initiative)、Hivos Online和International Open Source Network。

5. eRiders: Grassroots Technology:

eRiders are roving information and communications technology (ICT) consultants who provide one-to-one advice, planning, training and on-going support to non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Rather than being external technology experts, or expensive corporate advisors, eRiders are local experts with a combination of technical flair, consultancy skills and a strong NGO background.

啊！這不就是「The Mobile Media Motorist」的必達使命嗎(自我安慰地竊笑中)？這真是天降下來的禮物。我準備要寫的書(數位騎士？！)會把這個方向包進來。:)
